Lesley Irvine assumed the role of Director of Pomona-Pitzer Athletics in July 2015. She is responsible for intercollegiate athletics, Pomona College physical education activity classes, the faculty/staff fitness and wellness program, intramural/club sport and recreation programs and academic offerings. Lesley previously spent the past five years at Bowling Green State University, where she served as senior associate athletic director/senior women’s administrator and oversaw a multitude of sports and championship hosting responsibilities.

Prior to Bowling Green, Irvine spent seven years as the head field hockey coach at Stanford University and led the Cardinal to three straight NorPac Tournament Championships. Her teams won the 2003 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award, placing second in 2004 and taking fifth in 2005. She served in administrative roles as a member of the NCAA West Region All-America Committee and served a four-year term on the NCAA Division I National Field Hockey Committee, eventually taking over as the NCAA West Region Committee Chair. She currently serves as a member of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Committee.

Lesley is a 1999 Academic All-American and received her master’s degree in health, leisure and sports studies from Iowa in 2001. A native of England, she played three years of field hockey at Loughborough University in her home country. She was selected to England’s Under-18 and Under-21 National Teams during her playing career overseas.
